Colourful Beaded Earring Collection

When Your Creations Startle You at a Thrift Store

Remember last year when I described an entire travel set that I had made and cobbled together? One item was a crocheted pink and black water bottle cover. I had found a water bottle I liked, and wanted a cover with a handle attached. All good and well; that bottle and cover traveled with me to California in June and then all throughout Europe in the fall. Sometime during the winter, I found an insulated Aladdin water mug that I liked even better, so I put the turquoise mug plus the crocheted cover into my “giveaway bag” for the local thrift store.

Having forgotten that task, I was in the thrift store a few months later, when suddenly I spied an object that struck extreme familiarity in me. Weird experience. As I studied it, I thought, “Wow, it looks like things I make! Oh wait, that IS a thing I made!” And there was my cover, wrapped in a bag with some other kitchen objects, tagged at a mere $4.99. My daughter was with me, and she just rolled her eyes.

In other news, Nova Scotia recently experienced two major wildfires that displaced thousands of people. It was a scary experience. If you sign up for my e-mail newsletter (fill in form below), I’ll send you the edition that describes this experience. Meanwhile, the photo below features smoke. Not one part of that is cloud.

To cope with all the stress of waiting for rain (a week later!) and checking frequently for updates, I kept creating. One result is that I finished beading a bunch more pairs of colourful earrings. These are all listed for purchase in my shop, if you’d like to take a peek! Is there a pair calling your name?

I also kept drawing while monitoring the wildfire situation. Below is another folky floral design I will add to mugs for sale. I have found it pretty fun to design for a few print-on-demand products!

Below is another folky flower design. This one will be used on another mousepad. With the two pictures above and below, I used my Copic markers plus my Sharpies. How I love the pink Copic colour for the background below!!!

Speaking of mousepads, this one below is the one I bought for myself! I love it on my desk!!!!!

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this anywhere yet, but I’ve also added some new brooches to the shop, as well as a new category: hats. Colour and pattern everywhere! It makes me happy to look at the variety!
